Zoning Officer and Planning CoordinatorĮ. The Zoning Department, as headed by the Zoning Officer, also serves as the liaison with the Zoning Hearing Board. The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial board that is appointed by the Board of Commissioners but conducts its deliberations independently of the Board of Commissioners. The Zoning Hearing Board's role is to consider appeals from administrative interpretations made by the Zoning Officer of the Zoning Code. Accessibility issues are addressed through Chapter 11, Appendix E of the 2018 Edition of the Building Code. The Township has adopted, through the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, the 2015 International Building, Residential, Mechanical, Plumbing, Existing Building, Medical, and Energy Codes, as well as the 2014 National Electrical Code, 2015 International Fire Code and the 2015 International Property Maintenance Code.
This department also conducts detailed reviews of subdivision and land development plans that are submitted to the Township for consideration by the Board of Commissioners. The Code Enforcement and Building & Zoning Department is responsible for handling all zoning, planning, land development, and subdivision matters.
